- Stephen Marlowe, born on August 7, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York, was an American author known for his works in science fiction, mystery, and historical fiction. Marlowe also wrote fictional autobiographies of iconic figures such as Goya, Christopher Columbus, Miguel de Cervantes, and Edgar Allan Poe. His skill in blending historical fact with fiction earned him recognition in both literary and genre fiction circles. Throughout his career, Marlowe demonstrated a remarkable versatility, ranging from science fiction stories like The Graveyard of Space to historical novels, including The Memoirs of Christopher Columbus (1987) and The Lighthouse at the End of the World (1995).
