- Book Synopsis
- After a deadly disease sweeps through Ackroyd Hall, loyal servants William and Bessie find themselves the last survivors of a once‑great estate. But when armed men arrive claiming the inheritance, the pair are forced into hiding and into confronting secrets buried deep within the Ackroyd family. As danger closes in, William's search for his own forgotten past leads them far from Bedfordshire to the wilds of Yorkshire, where long‑hidden truths wait to be uncovered. A gripping tale of survival, loyalty, and the mysteries that shape a family's legacy.
- About The Author
- Frances Sparrow was born at the beginning of WWII. Her father was away for the first five years, so he was a stranger when he returned. Only two bombs dropped nearby in those five years, causing broken windows in their home. Rationing did not finish until she was twelve. Frances and her mother slept in a shelter built into a small bedroom. There was no fear, and all the children played in the street, as there were no cars.
