- About The Author
- Photographer Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946) was instrumental in the development of modern art in America during the early 20th century. In 1902 he established the Photo-Secession Group, a movement that elevated photography from a routine form of documentation to the realm of fine art. The following year, he founded the periodical Camera Work, a forum for the introduction of new aesthetic theories by artists, critics, and writers.
