It reviews straightforward tuning methods for decentralized PID controllers in multivariable systems. An overview of techniques such as the design of decentralized PI controllers using the no proportional kick method and analytical methods is provided, along with illustrative examples. Additionally, the book includes simulation studies on designing decentralized PI controllers for the Reactive Ion Etcher (RIE) process. It details several advanced methods for centralized controller design, including the Biggest Log Modulus Tuning (BLT) method, the Synthesis method, and the Modified Internal Model Control (IMC) method, applicable to both stable and unstable systems. For the design of centralized control systems, methods such as the Relative Gain Array (RGA), the Relative Normalized Gain Array (RNGA), and the Effective Transfer Function (ETF) based on the Enhanced RGA (ERGA) are discussed. - About The Author
- Chandra Shekar Bestha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Calicut, located in Kozhikode, India. He has five years of teaching and research experience and has published over 20 research papers in international and national journals and conferences. Additionally, he has supervised four M.Tech students and one Ph.D. candidate. M. Chidambaram has been a faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering at both IIT Bombay and IIT Madras. He served as the director of NIT Tiruchirappalli from 2005 to 2010. Dr. Chidambaram has authored or co-authored 11 books and has published 190 research papers in various international and national journals.
