- About The Author
- The son of clarinet virtuoso Heinrich Baermann, Carl Baermann (1810-85) learned the instrument under his father's tutelage. He played in the Munich court orchestra as a teenager and upon his father's retirement was appointed principal clarinetist, a position he maintained for five decades. His development of the Baermann-Ottensteiner key system for the clarinet was popularized by this volume, which constitutes one of the leading methods for the instrument's instruction.
