- About The Author
- Born in 1813, Søren Aabye Kierkegaard was a Danish philosopher, poet and religious author who is well known for his social critiques and writings on Christianity and existentialism. Since publication, many of his works have been translated into English. Kierkegaard died in 1855, aged 42. Walter Lowrie was born in Philadelphia in 1868. He studied in the United States and abroad before returning to Philadelphia where he joined the Episcopal Church and became an ordained deacon. During his life he studied and translated the works of Søren Kierkegaard, wrote numerous books and articles, and became a well-respected Kierkegaardian theologian in the world of academia. Lowrie died in 1959 at the age of 91.
