- Austria 1945. After losing his family, Jakob shelters with Spanish Riding School groom Herr Engel at a remote country stables where they are hiding the precious Lipizzaner stallions the Nazis wants to steal. When a German officer comes looking for Jakob and finds the horses, Jakob and his guardian know they must get the stallions to safety, but the only way is straight through enemy territory. - About The Author
- Vanessa Harbour is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the university in Winchester. She used to run her own PR consultancy. She was previously Academic and Business Consultant at the Golden Egg Academy and now writes online courses. She has written for the Bookseller on being a disabled author. Flight, a World War II middle-grade thriller selected for Empathy Lab's Read for Empathy Collection 2020, is Vanessa's first novel. Safe is Jakob and Kizzy's second adventure, set in the chaotic last days of World War II.
