- Book Synopsis
- "It's alright, you're at Hazelgrove, you're safe here." But Hazelgrove is crumbling. Its future looks bleak. Oliver should feel lucky to be living in a stately home, but the roof leaks and there isn't enough money for repairs. He has learned that people bring problems so he doesn't welcome Rachel's intrusion into his life. Perhaps her enthusiasm for Hazelgrove will inspire him to look at things differently. They are not the only ones who need a fresh start and the kindness of strangers: a gardener desperate to provide a future for his autistic son; an eccentric gamekeeper haunted by the past; a neglected child; a failed businessman; a cook risking everything for what she believes. Each of them needs to recover from trauma but if they can recognise a second chance when it is offered and be brave enough to take it then maybe they can save Hazelgrove and save themselves.
- About The Author
- Janet Beacom always wanted to publish a novel. Winning a short story competition gave her the confidence, retiring from her job as a secondary school headteacher gave her the time. Now she plots whilst walking, gardening, baking and travelling and writes when she isn't dancing or spending time with her grandchildren.
