- Book Synopsis
- Come face to face with HMS Belfast in this scene reproduced from IWM's Film Archive. IWM has managed a Film Archive since it was first established in 1917. The constantly growing collection extends to over 25,000 hours of moving images, representing a wide and diverse range of material from public and service information films, documentaries and unedited combat film, through to official newsreels and amateur films. Launched in 1938, HMS Belfast played a defining role in several major battles during the Second World War including the Artic Convoys, the Battle of North Cape and the D-Day landings. The ship later saw active service during the Korean War. Using rare archival footage from IWM's unique collection, this flip book shows HMS Belfast in action during the Korean War, bombarding the Amgak Peninsula in 1952.
