- Book Synopsis
- Kidnapped is an adventure novel that is as vast in its scope as the seventy-word title under which it was originally published. Based on an assassination that took place after the Jacobite Rising of 1745, the novel fictionalizes historic figures to tell the story of the seventeen-year-old David Balfour, who finds himself caught in the crossfire between the Scottish Highlanders and the English after his parents' death.
- About The Author
- Robert Louis Stevenson was born on 13 November 1850 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Stevenson had a weak constitution; his childhood was marked by chronic illness and frequent visits to warmer climes. This limited his access to a formal education and he didn't learn to read until he was eight, although he had begun dictating stories to his nurse and mother long before.
