- Book Synopsis
- Who killed Susan Nicholson? Laurel Bowman has started a new life as a teacher on the isolated Suffolk coast while she tries to get over the murder of her sister. But it seems she cannot escape from death. Laurel is shocked to find that the headmaster's wife has been killed, and all the school staff are suspects. The detective in charge, idiosyncratic DI Frank Diamond, was involved in her sister's case. Together they start to unravel the truth. Soon the murderer strikes again and Laurel must fight, not just for justice, but for her life.
- About The Author
- Vera has always been a bookworm, but didn't read crime until her twenties when she was in Spain for two months and the only books in English she could buy were Agatha Christies. She was hooked, but never imagined one day she would write The Anglian Detective Agency series. Early student jobs were blowing soap bubbles in Woolworths, cooking in hotels and electro-fishing in Welsh rivers, but after studying zoology, and doing further research, her interest in people led her to teaching. Her skills in dissection, anatomy, genetics and all things gory, have proved very useful when writing murder or autopsy scenes! She enjoys going to crime writers festivals and meeting other criminally minded people! When she isn't immersed in a gruesome crime, Vera loves being with friends, laughing and exchanging craic, preferably over a good meal. Her other passions are working in her garden, cooking, walking, theatre, cinema, and, of course, reading.
