- Book Synopsis
- 'We have to keep up with the times. We're a business, not a soup kitchen, we might be busy but we're basically giving the food away for free.' Hyltons' Caribbean takeaway is a much-loved restaurant in the heart of Liverpool. Built by Carol and her late husband into a bustling hub with a mouth-watering menu, it serves great food with a huge side-order of love. But in a world of delivery apps, street-food markets and gourmet curry goat, the old ways are changing. Liverpool is changing too, with a luxury apartment block about to be built over a local playing field. Anger is rising, nobody can agree on anything any more, and things are getting spicy... A feast of big laughs, family tensions and delicious food, Nathan Powell's play Takeaway premiered at Liverpool Everyman in 2025, directed by Amanda Huxtable.
