- About The Author
- Helmut Hissenb_ttel, a writer of international standing, was born in 1921 in Willhelmshaven in North Germany, the son of a village carpenter. During the war he served in the army, was seriously wounded in 1941 and spent the rest of the war studying architecture, history of art and literature. He spent some years as a publishers' reader in Hamburg and has been a radio producer in Stuttgart since 1959. He has published volumes of poetry, essays, novels and radio dialogues.
